Summary

This year, the topic of this annual report is "can agricultural biotechnologies meet the needs of the poorest?" The report analyses the social and economic impacts of technological changes in agriculture and reviews the currently available data on the safety for human health and the environment of transgenic cultures. This publication also contains the SOFA 2003-04 CD-ROM, which presents chronological data sets for 150 countries and regions, in English, Spanish and French, as well as the FAOSTAT software.
