Author(s) : CHRISTENSEN K. G., CHUN S.
Summary
The refrigerants used in the different types of equipment are hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide. This paper focuses on the development at work carried out on the CO2-based HVAC system (transcritical) and the CO2/propane system for the low- and medium-temperature storage (cascade plant). Furthermore, the paper deals with the safety issues concerning the use of the hydrocarbon-based equipment in the kitchen, where the primary challenges have been to convert the refrigeration equipment to use flammable refrigerants in the most secure way.
