Summary

Effective thermal conductivity, effective thermal diffusivity, effective volumetric specific heat and coefficient of heat storage of certain two-phase dry granular materials used in building construction, like marble powder, kota stone powder, cement, surkhi and ash have been studied in the temperature range from -20 to 80 deg C. It has been found that variation of effective volumetric specific heats and coefficients of heat storage with temperature of the materials under investigation are altogether different, as compared to effective thermal conductivities and diffusivities. The thermal conductivity of the solid components has been estimated by measuring thermal conductivity of each material, on saturating with different fluids. These thermal parameters have also been predicted by developed temperature dependent model. A close agreement has been found in experimental and predicted values of the coefficients.
