Thermal climate assessment in office environment: CFD calculations and thermal manikin measurements.

Author(s) : NILSSON H., HOLMÉR I., HOLMBERG S., et al.

Summary

With increasing demand for acceptable office environment it is necessary, already in the construction phase, to estimate what effect different environmental factors have on the occupants. In order to investigate whether CFD (computational fluid dynamics) calculations and measurements with a thermal manikin are able to predict the perceived climate in an office, numerical calculations as well as full scale measurements were carried out. Calculations of this type enable engineers to make better predictions and early decisions in the design and construction process. It also opens possibilities to interpolate results from a reduced number of full scale tests. Results are analyzed and discussed.
