Summary

A DISTINCTION IS MADE BETWEEN THE THERMAL INERTIA OF THE ENVELOPE, IE OF THE EXTERNAL WALLS, AND THAT OF THE INSIDE PART OF A BUILDING. THROUGH THE STUDY OF THE SPECIFIC ENERGY CONSUMPTIONS, IT WAS FOUND THAT OLD BUILDINGS WHICH ARE HEAVY AND MASSIVE WERE ECONOMICAL FROM A HEATING POINT OF VIEW, EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT THERMALLY INSULATED. VARIOUS EXISTING CALCULATION METHODS TAKE THE THERMAL INERTIA INTO ACCOUNT. NATURE REVEALS THE ACTION OF INERTIA THROUGH PECULIAR PHYSICAL PHENOMENA.
