Summary
This article reports on the use of the TRNSYS dynamic thermal model to assess a building with an integrated ventilated photovoltaic facade. The building model was validated against experimental data obtained from a 6.5 m-high photovoltaic facade on the Mataro Library near Barcelona. The modelled and measured air temperatures within the ventilation gap formed by the facade were found to be in good agreement. The article also reports on how ventilated facades can affect the heating and cooling loads of buildings.
