Summary

A computer simulation program was developed for modelling the heat and mass transfer in cooling and heating coils. The program simulates the dynamic performance of a given coil at any given entering fluid temperature and flow rate. Various circuit arrangements can be modelled for any single phase heat transfer fluid and its flow direction can be modelled for parallel or counter-flow. The program models all time lags associated with heat storage and fluid flow and will therefore also be useful for establishing the control characteristics for the coil. The computer model can cope with partially wet and dry cooling coils.
