THERMALLY ACTUATED HEAT PUMP.

Author(s) : EDER F. X.

Summary

THE REPORT INVESTIGATES THE PRESENT DAY POTENTIAL OF THE VUILLEUMIER REFRIGERATOR WHICH PRODUCES REFRIGERATION DIRECTLY FROM A HEAT SOURCE. THIS MACHINE WAS FIRST PATENTED IN 1918 BUT WAS NEVER EXPLOITED TILL 1960. THE INCREASED INTEREST TODAY IS DUE TO THE POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS AS A QUIET-RUNNING, COMPACT AND LIGHTWEIGHT REFRIGERATOR WHICH CAN PRODUCE TEMPERATURES BELOW 100 K. THE AUTHOR EXPLAINS THE PRINCIPLE OF THIS MACHINE AND PRESENTS AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF THE IDEAL CYCLE.
