Thermodynamic, energy-efficiency, and economic criteria for evaluation of alternative refrigerants for heat pumps.

Summary
The specific volumetric capacity determines the size of the equipment and the COP provides an indication of the energy efficiency of the system. They do not provide, however, a straight tool for refrigerant evaluation and final selection. The cost of the heat-pump heat as a link between the specific volumetric capacity and the COP is derived and used as a tool to evaluate various alternatives for refrigerants in heat-pumps and air-conditioners.
