STATES THAT THERMOSIPHON COOLING IS A METHOD OF PROVIDING CHEAP CHILLED WATER WHICH CAN THEN BE UTILISED IN BUILDING SERVICES FOR AIR CONDITIONING. WHEN THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE IS LOWER THAN THE CHILLED WATER TEMPERATURE, THE REFRIGERANT VAPOUR MIGRATES TO THE CONDENSER, WHERE IT CONDENSES AND DRAINS BACK TO THE EVAPORATOR UNDER GRAVITY. STATES THAT FOR A NEW INSTALLATION, THE PROVISION OF THERMOSIPHON COOLING IS ABLE TO REDUCE THE POWER CONSUMED BY THE CHILLED WATER PLANT BY AS MUCH AS 70 % IN IDEAL CONDITIONS.
