Summary

THE AUTHORS STUDY TRANSIENT THERMAL BEHAVIOUR OF A VERTICAL WALL SUBJECTED TO THE EFFECT OF UNIFORM RADIATION AND MAKE THE DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS OF COMBINED CONDUCTION-CONVECTION-RADIATION HEAT TRANSFER PROCESSES. UNDER COMMON CONDITIONS, THE PROBLEM IS SHOWN TO DEPEND ONLY ON THREE PARAMETERS (INSTEAD OF 5) AND NOMOGRAPHS CAN GIVE THE ENERGY ACCUMULATED IN THE WALL IN TERMS OF ITS GEOMETRICAL AND THERMAL CHARACTERISTICS AND OF EXTERNAL CONDITIONS (KIND AND THICKNESS OF THE MATERIAL, DEVELOPMENT OF INCIDENT FLUX, CONVECTION ON THE HEIGHT OF THE WALL UNDER LAMINAR, TRANSIENT OR TURBULENT FLOWS).
