Transient modelling and energy efficiency optimisation of mobile air conditioning: example of a railroad car.

Summary

The quality of the operation of an air-conditioning system and its adaptation to the object in which it is installed can be best proven in transitional regimes, obtained when the external and internal thermal influences are changing. The example of the railroad car testing by simulating various influencing conditions in which an air-conditioning system will be operating, shows what such tests can discover concerning thermal properties of coach and air conditioning system. As such tests have to be in a special laboratory tunnels, they are expensive and need time, modelling can be used when energy system has to be studied and its efficiency to be optimized. In the paper results of measuring and modelling of the thermal behaviour of the railroad coach and of its air conditioning system are presented for summer transition conditions.
