Summary

TWO SHIPMENTS OF CONDENSATION-PRONE COMMODITIES IN NATURALLY-VENTILATED CONTAINERS WERE MADE FROM PAPUA NEW GUINEA TO THE UNITED KINGDOM. IN THE FIRST SHIPMENT TWO CSIRO-MODIFIED CONTAINERS CARRIED COCOA, AND IN THE SECOND COFFEE WAS CARRIED IN TWO ADAMSON < VENT BOXES >. TWO ADDITIONAL CONTAINERS IN THE FIRST SHIPMENT CARRIED COPRA, BUT WERE NOT MONITORED IN DETAIL. ALL CONTAINERS WERE STOWED BELOW DECK. MOISTURE SENSORS DETECTED CONDENSATION IN ONE CONTAINER OF COFFEE DURING A COLD SPELL WHILE IN PORT IN ROTTERDAM, BUT AT OUTTURN NO DAMAGE ATTRIBUTABLE TO CONDENSATION WAS OBSERVED IN ANY CONTAINER.
