THE COOLER FOR PRE-COOLING MILK PRIOR TO STORAGE IN A REFRIGERATED FARM TANK COMPRISES 2 IDENTICAL TUBULAR COOLING UNITS SUPPLIED WITH COLD WATER AND SEPARATED BY AN INTERMEDIATE < TRANSFER TANK >. FEEDING MILK INTO THE SECOND COOLING STAGE IS ACTUATED BY A LEVEL INDICATOR THUS ENABLING THE MILK TO BE PASSED FOR COOLING IN BATCHES AND AUTOMATICALLY. AN AIR-VALVE ON THE SECOND-STAGE COOLER, ALLOWS THE MILK TO BE COOLED IN THE COOLER WHILST ON OPENING ADMITS AIR AND EFFECTS ITS EVACUATION BY GRAVITY INTO THE REFRIGERATOR TANK FOR FINAL COOLING.
