Turbo chiller with water as refrigerant.

Author(s) : ALBRING P., HEINRICH G.

Summary

After several years of research and development at ILK Dresden, the first test results of a ready-to-use, compact, hermetic water cooler are available: a water cooler which uses water as a refrigerant and is driven by a turbo compressor. This new machine has a performance range between 500 and 1000 kilowatts, depending on the chosen vaporization temperature. Cold water can be provided in a temperature range between 0 and 20 deg C. The R718 process takes place in the vacuum. Proper functioning has been demonstrated using a full-sized experimental unit.
