Summary

In the present work, we propose a two-phase flow boiling heat transfer coefficient correlation of two natural refrigerants included propane (R290) and ammonia (R717) inside small channels. The data were conducted with the mass flux ranges from 50 to 500 kg/m2s, the heat flux ranges from 6 – 12 kW/m2 and the quality up to a unit. The refrigerants were tested in rectangular tubes with the hydraulic diameters of 0.83 mm and 0.96 mm. The effects of heat flux, mass flux and tube geometry are considered in proposing the correlation. The data is also validated with numerous well-known heat transfer correlations in literature and a new correlation shows good agreement with present data.
