Author(s) : DALLAIS A., TIANJARA N., YOUBI-IDRISSI M., et al.

Summary

This paper deals with the experimental characterization of the impact of applying ultrasounds to a liquid nitrogen bath on the efficiency of heat transfer within liquid nitrogen. A specific experimental set-up was put together to measure heat transfer coefficients. Experimental results show clearly a net enhancement of the average HTC within liquid nitrogen after the application of an ultrasonic field. The enhancement can be as high as 33% and depends on many parameters, the main ones being ultrasonic power and source location.
