Summary

Ultrastructural alterations in the plasma membrane upon intracellular freezing, subsequent thawing and subsequent recooling were examined in xylem parenchyma cells from Styrax obassia by freeze-fracture electron microscopy. Freezing, thawing and recooling resulted in different forms of ultrastructural alteration in the plasma membrane, respectively.
