Uncertainty in measurements of fluid temperature in tubes.
Author(s) : RABIN Y.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Thermocouples are commonly applied for those measurements, ignoring the thermal interaction between the thermocouple and the fluid. The current report provides a simple and explicit formulation for the estimation of the effect of this thermal interaction on the measured temperature value. Results show that this thermal effect, between the sensor and the sensed phenomenon, may result in an uncertainty in measurements which overwhelms uncertainties from other sources.
