Summary
About 80% of all single-family homes built last year had central air conditioning installed. About half of the next housing erected in the South, where 98% of the new homes will have central air cooling. Last year's output of nearly 5.7 million unitary shipments was the third consecutive record year, and 12% better than the output in 1995.
