IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE HIGH FIELD PERFORMANCE OF SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETS, THE UPPER CRITICAL FIELD FOR PRACTICAL MULTIFILAMENTARY ALLOY WIRES OF NIOBIUM-TITANIUM, NIOBIUM-TITANIUM-TANTALUM AND NIOBIUM-TITANIUM-HAFNIUM WERE EXAMINED WITH RESPECT TO THE USE OF A PRESSURIZED SUPERFLUID COOLING TECHNIQUE. THE ADDITION OF TANTALUM OR HAFNIUM TO NIOBIUM-TITANIUM ENHANCED BY 0.5 T FOR UPPER CRITICAL FIELD AT 1.8 K.
