Summary

Information is given on the use of returnable plastic crates and returnable plastic pallets in the cold chain for storage, transport and distribution of chilled meat. Crates are a replacement for carton packaging and plastic pallets for timber pallets. After use the material is cleaned by a central cleaning facility and brought into circuit again. After the life-cycle the material can be recycled.
