WATER COOLING TOWERS, THEIR ROLE IN REFRIGERATING EQUIPMENT, THEIR CONSTRUCTION AND MAIN PARTS ARE DISCUSSED. FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF EFFICIENCY 2 KINDS OF FITTINGS ARE IMPORTANT: DROP AND FILM-FORMING FITTINGS. THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE COOLING TOWERS, THEIR REFRIGERATING FITTINGS, THEIR CHARACTERISTICS DIAGRAM AND WATER REQUIREMENTS AS A FUNCTION OF FRESH WATER QUALITY AND THEIR OPERATING CHARACTERS ARE DESCRIBED. EQUATIONS TO CALCULATE PARAMETERS ARE ALSO GIVEN.
