Using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) to study freezing in a euryhaline aquatic invertebrate.

Author(s) : MCALLEN R.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The use of DSC techniques has allowed the study of freezing in two euryhaline aquatic invertebrates that exhibit different osmotic physiologies. DSC has revealed the influence of osmotic physiology on cryobiological parameters, demonstrating that the differences between the two modes of osmoregulation influence cryobiological parameters.
