VAPOUR LIQUID EQUILIBRIUM AND ENTHALPY-CONCENTRATION-TEMPERATURE (H-X-T) CORRELATIONS FOR TERNARY NITRATE MIXTURES.

Author(s) : ALLY M. R.

Summary

TERNARY NITRATE MIXTURES REPRESENT A NEW CLASS OF HIGH-TEMPERATURE WORKING FLUIDS FOR CHEMICAL HEAT PUMPS. WATER IS THE REFRIGERANT AND THE SOLUTE IS COMPOSED OF 53 WT% LITHIUM NITRATE, 28 WT% POTASSIUM NITRATE, AND 19 WT% SODIUM NITRA THE FLUID MIXTURE OPERATES UP TO 533 K (260 DEG C) WITHOUT CAUSING CORROSION PROBLEMS. IN THE PAPER, POLYNOMIAL EXPRESSIONS USING LEAST SQUARE FIT TECHNIQUES ARE DEVELOPED THAT CORRELATE EXPERIMENTAL VAPOUR-LIQUID-EQUILIBRIUM AND SPECIFIC ENTHALPY-CONCENTRATION DATA FOR THE AQUEOUS NITRATE MIXTURE.
