Vehicle air conditioning: economical approach.

Author(s) : NANDA R.

Summary

A vehicle consumes 15% extra fuel when air-conditioning is switched on. This extra consumption is due to the running of an engine-driven compressor. To avoid this engine driven compressor, the paper provides an approach making use of engine exhaust gas being wastefully discharged into the atmosphere. The velocity at which the gas leaves can provide kinetic energy and its high temperature can be put to use as heat energy.
