Summary
The article explains simply the principles adopted for the ventilation and cooling of the Channel tunnel. The 3 tunnels (2 for the shuttles and one for maintenance) are described, together with their links through equidistant communicating galleries whose functions are described. Ventilation systems (normal and back-up systems) are described, and the capacities and mass flow rates are given.
