Verification of a heat pump unit for air conditioning system using a natural refrigerant.

Author(s) : KAKIMI S., FUKAYA G., IWATA Y.

Summary

The purpose of the paper is to verify the practicality of a heat pump unit for an air conditioning system using ammonia as a refrigerant. A new type of heat pump unit using ammonia with ice thermal storage tank was developed, and the unit was installed in an office building for practical study. The heat pump unit met the designed values of COP during both cooling and heating operation, and leakage of ammonia was not sensed throughout the operating period. Thus the practicality of the heat pump unit was verified.
