Summary

For the in vitro evaluation, the pollen grains were stored at room temperature, refrigeration (4 °C) and freezing (-10 °C), dried or not in a desiccator. Evaluation was done after 0, 1, 2 and 7 days. Pollen germination was more effective when the pollen was stored at room temperature until one day after collection (50% germination), and poorer on the third day (26%). Low temperatures and low humidity caused loss of germination. Further, pollen viability was evaluated in vivo. Stored pollen was viable for 24 hours. Pollination with 48 hour-old pollen gave no fruit.
