Summary
Field experience has shown for two years that the bacteria content of water in cooling towers or evaporative cooling systems can be controlled by using a device without chemicals. In particular, the Legionella content can be substantially reduced. Field tests showed the following results: total bacteria content lower than 10 CFU (colony-forming units) per cm3; TDS (total dissolved solids) 100-150 ppm; alkalinity 60-120 ppm; pH 7-7.5. Two other tests are being implemented: a laboratory test of the device and a field test of this device in a cooling tower which has a high Legionella content. J.G.
