Summary

NITROGEN IS INJECTED INTO NATURAL GAS WELL PRODUCTION FOR ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY AND TO MAINTAIN RESERVOIR PRESSURE. AN NRU IS ESSENTIAL TO UPHOLD THE THERMAL PROPERTIES OF THE GAS FINALLY SUPPLIED. NITROGEN RECOVERY REQUIRES CRYOGENIC TEMPERATURES. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE CALCULATED DATA FOR GAS MIXTURES IS ACCURATE WHEN NRU'S ARE DESIGNED. SUITABLE EQUATIONS OF STATE PROVIDE GOOD BASIS FOR A PROCESS MODEL, BUT INACCURACIES CAN OCCUR BOTH IN THE EMPIRICAL CONSTANTS AVAILABLE AND IN FITTING THE MODEL TO THE PROCESS. K-VALUES AND ENTHALPIES WITH ERRORS AS LARGE AS 10% CAN SERIOUSLY AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OF THE COMPRESSOR AND HEAT EXCHANGERS IN PARTICULAR THAT ARE USED IN THE HEAT PUMP CYCLE FOR A SINGLE FRACTIONATING COLUMN.
