Which polymers should be used in heat pumps and refrigeration systems that use CO2 as refrigerant?

Summary

The use of CO2 as refrigerant in heat pump and refrigeration systems has increased in Denmark, especially in the Danish commercial refrigeration market (e.g. in supermarkets). So far, a lot of good experience has been gained. However, some problems have arisen when trying to find the right polymer materials for seals and packings in order to ensure the performance of the system. This presentation will concentrate on a R&D project studying and testing which polymers have the best properties in CO2. Main subjects are: presentation of test results; which material properties of polymers are critical in relation to CO2 and which polymer materials should then be used?
