Summary
William Cullen, the famous physician and chemist from the area of Glasgow, Scotland, was born 300 years ago. Unlike the researchers of the early 17th century, experimenting with the water barometers, he evaporated several liquids directly in vacuo, producing by this means artificial cold in an open circuit.
