Summary

Transport of heat-sensitive drugs is a challenging cold chain management process, and involves a large number of players in the medication circuit. In order to analyse the degree of control achieved within our circuit in an objective manner, we performed measurements under real conditions during transport of heat-sensitive drugs to various wards (close to or at a distance from the pharmacy). Depending on the distance between the pharmacy and the ward, either the Transport or Placing in Storage step is the most critical. In order to optimize our heat-sensitive drug circuit. procedures have been updated. the staff have been trained, and equipment (jnsulated pouches, eutectic gels, and a freezer) has been requested. Delivery times and the time required to place drugs in storage are the key parameters to be investigated and managed along with the performance of the tools used to preserve drugs during transport.
