Zeolite synthesized on metal for more efficient and adsorption machines.

Summary

Adsorption heat pumps and cooling systems using zeolite-water pairs are one of the most promising alternatives to compressor machines, nevertheless their performances and their investment costs are actually not suitable for a market production. The poor heat transfer inside the adsorber is the main factor responsible of the cost of these machines. Research activity tends to increase the thermal conductivity of the adsorbent bed and to increase the heat transfer between the solid adsorber and the heat exchanger wall. A new adsorbent bed type consisting of zeolite directly synthesized on the heat exchanger wall is presented and the preliminary results are shown.
