ShareMember news: Carrier Transicold to offer R452A in the United States
Carrier Transicold proposes R452A as an alternative to R404A for refrigerated hauliers in the USA.
The IIR corporate member Carrier Transicold has begun offering North America’s refrigerated hauliers the refrigerant R452A as an option for new and existing equipment. R452A is a zeotropic mixture of R1234yf, R32 and R125 (30/11/59% by mass).
Starting in the first quarter of 2021, purchasers can specify R452A on all Carrier Transicold trailer and diesel truck equipment orders. Carrier units with R452A refrigerant have performance comparable to Carrier units with R404A, the traditional transport refrigerant, in terms of refrigerating capacity, pulldown, fuel efficiency and reliability.
R452A still has a relatively high GWP of 2140, but that is an improvement on R404A which has a GWP of 3922. It also has the advantage that it can be retrofitted to existing equipment.
Carrier Transicold has been an IIR member for 30 years.
