Hosted by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and SINTEF in Trondheim (Norway) on June 13-15, 2022, the 15th Gustav Lorentzen Conference on Natural Refrigerants welcomed over 330 participants on site to share 17 plenary lectures, 25 posters and 132 oral presentations.
A conference in honour of the Professor himself
Despite being organised in the wake of a two-year pandemic, delegates were delighted to reunite with colleagues from far and wide.
Organised under the theme “The Natural Choices by 2030”, the 3-day conference fostered dynamic discussions on the latest research results and advances related to the use of natural refrigerants in different types of systems and applications.
This conference series is held by the IIR as a tribute to the work and legacy of Professor Gustav Lorentzen.
A prominent figure in the field, Professor Lorentzen held various responsibilities within the IIR. His work boosted research on CO2 as a refrigerant in order to replace chlorinated refrigerants (CFCs, HCFCs), setting the framework for international agreements such as the Montreal Protocol (1987).
