Ratification of the European Standard EN 378: the IoR publishes a guidance note to highlight the significant changes.
What are the main differences between the EN 378:2008 and the EN 378:2016 "Refrigerating systems, safety and environmental requirements" ? The Institute of Refrigeration answers through a four page Guidance Note.
On March 2016,the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) ratified an update of the EN 378 European Standard "Refrigerating systems and heat pumps. Safety and environmental requirements". This standard provides guidance for companies who work with refrigerating systems, from their conception to their productive utilization, such as vapour compression systems, air-conditioning, heat pumps, and other similar systems. This standard is to be implemented at national level on May 31, 2017 by publication of an identical national standard or by endorsement.
The EN 378 is published in four parts and is already available for sale on the British Standards Institution website with the key words: "EN 378 2016".
In order to simplify the understanding of the EN 378 standard, the Technical Committee of the Institute of Refrigeration (IoR) has published a guidance note (available on their website or at the top of this page). It highlights the role of the most significant changes introduced since the last version was published in 2008.
