The IIR is taking part in standardization work for TTIIs in France
Gérald Cavalier, President of Section D of the IIR’s Science and Technology Council was appointed President of the new E18A Commission of AFNOR (Association Française de Normalisation, the French Standardization Agency): “Cold chain control - Tools Cold chain time and temperature indicators and integrators (TTIIs)”.
During the first meeting of the Commission last April, he underscored the fact that apart from a few exceptions, there were currently no generally accepted methods for the evaluation, classification and checking of the efficiency of TTIIs and that developing such documents was becoming essential in order to give credibility to this type of equipment, which is commonly used in the food sector and is now being adopted in the health sector.
According to G. Cavalier, one of the critical aspects in determining TTIIs is the description of the parameters that modify the condition of the device where temperature abuse or non-compliance with the set time-temperature conditions occur.
