ShareUNEP and ASHRAE updated list of new refrigerant designations June 2025
On 30 July 2025, UNEP and ASHRAE published a fact sheet to provide an update on ASHRAE Standard 34, available in English, French and Spanish.
ASHRAE Standard 34 “Designation and Safety Classification of Refrigerants”, is a useful tool to refer to common refrigerants using simplified nomenclature, instead of chemical formulas. Refrigerants are numbered with an R-, followed by the number assigned by ASHRAE.
On 30 July 2025, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and ASHRAE published a fact sheet providing the list of the newly approved refrigerant numbers from the latest edition of Standard 34 and addenda. The fact sheet also presents the current edition of Standard 34 and Standard 15 (Safety Standard for Refrigeration Systems).
