Wondrwall introduces AI-controlled propane heat pump
Wondrwall launches a propane air-source heat pump with AI-powered energy management for cost and carbon savings.
Wondrwall, a Manchester-based company, has launched a new propane air-source heat pump that incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) through its Home Energy Management System (HEMS). The system learns the thermal performance of a home, its typical energy consumption, and user preferences to adjust heating schedules and flow temperatures based on occupancy and behaviour.
The heat pump aims to deliver both heating and cooling with high energy efficiency, using adaptive start/stop technology and quiet operation. Trials in collaboration with the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) showed up to 87% savings on energy bills compared to homes using only a standard heat pump.
The system’s integration with Wondrwall’s broader energy solutions, including infrared and electric underfloor heating, is designed to maximise carbon reduction and cost savings, offering homes the potential to achieve net-zero emissions, depending on the building’s structure.
Wondrwall has also opened up its HEMS technology to other heat pump manufacturers, enabling wider industry adoption. The company is currently working with major UK housebuilders, including Redrow and Taylor Wimpey, to support large-scale deployment in new builds.
The new heat pump comes ahead of the UK's Future Homes Standard, which mandates significant reductions in carbon emissions for new homes starting in 2025.
