The Bil Mar outbreak has been a deadly one. The CDC report 16 deaths (11 adults and 5 miscarriages). There have been 73 illnesses in 14 states. Despite evidence of unsanitary conditions at a meat processing plant here, federal officials continue to point to air conditioning and refrigeration equipment as the "possible" causes of a listeria outbreak.
