Summary

To clarify the effect of the inhibition of the natural heat transfer, the local heat transfer coefficients on the cooling vertical flat board with circular grooves were obtained by using multi-type thermocouple method. Two-flat plates with and without the periodic circular grooves were tested in this experiment. The characteristics of heat transfer along the plate in both plates were compared. The local heat transfer coefficients on the periodic grooving plate became smaller than that of the flat plate. The flow pattern was changed when it passed over the grooves, and the circulation was generated in the grooves in the downstream. As a result, the thickness of the thermal boundary layer on the grooved plate was developed more than the one of the plate.
