Comfort at work places by spot cooling.

Number: pap. E1.15

Author(s) : FANGER P. O.

Summary

In many industrial buildings with a high heat load due to internal heat production or to a hot outdoor climate, there is a need for air conditioning to provide thermal comfort for the workers. General air conditioning of an entire space is costly, however, as well as energy-consuming. In industrial buildings where workers are widely spaced and engaged at fixed workplaces, energy can be conserved by using spot cooling to provide comfort - in other words, by cooling each individual at his workplace instead of cooling the entire space. Different methods of spot cooling will be discussed in this paper.
