A comparative evaluation of CO2 and HCFC-22 room air-conditioners.

Summary

Results are presented from a comparative study on the performance of a small (2.4 kilowatts cooling) inverter-driven CO2 split air-conditioning system, in relation to a baseline HCFC-22 circuit. A typical Japanese climate is assumed. Based on detailed simulation results, it is concluded that the seasonal energy efficiency of the CO2 system is competitive with the baseline HCFC-22 system data, both for cooling and heating operation.
