Summary

In the paper, the results of an experimental comparative study between HCFC-22 and new proposed HFCs alternatives are presented for heat pump applications. An experimental heat pump set up composed of a rotary 5 kilowatts, rotary compressor, water cooled condenser, series of capillaries, and antifreeze solution cooled has been utilized. The refrigerants tested in the study under different conditions were HCFC-22, as a reference base refrigerant and R410A (HFC-32/HFC-125), R407A (HFC-32/HFC-125/HFC-134a), as well as the authors' proposed mixture: HFC-32/HFC-125/HFC-143a/HFC-134a. The experimental data showed that the authors proposed HFC four components has superior performance compared to other proposed HFCs alternatives R410A and R407C, under the same conditions.
