Comparison of R410A, R407C and propane in heat pump applications.

Author(s) : KOENIG H.

Summary

The R22 replacements R410A, R407C and propane are compared and discussed. No known substance can offer all the technical advantages of R22 as a refrigerant. Apart from zeotropic refrigerants, only propane has a vapour pressure curve similar to that of R22. Theoretical comparison of these replacements show only slight differences in terms of COP and capacity. With R410A, measurements in optimized equipment and field trials with heat pumps resulted in an improved COP and Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER).
