A mathematical model for a phase-change, thermal energy storage system utilizing rectangular containers.

Summary

The phase-change material is held in flat, rectangular containers that are stacked on top of each other with spacing in between successive containers in order to provide flow channels for the heat transfer fluid. Examples of the detailed information the model makes available are presented. A comparison is made of the model's predictions with actual field data from a large cool storage installation.
