THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE WORK ON A NEW, HIGH-EFFICIENCY ABSORPTION HEAT PUMP DESIGNED FOR OUTPUT CAPACITIES IN THE 250-1,000 KILOWATT RANGE. THE HEAT PUMP FUNCTIONS ON THE BASIS OF AN AMMONIA-WATER PROCESS, WITH GENERATOR-ABSORBER HEAT EXCHANGE. THE MAIN HEAT EXCHANGERS ARE OF THE PLATE-FIN TYPE. THE RESULT IS A SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT OF EFFICIENCY IN THE INTERNAL HEAT EXCHANGE PROCESS.
