Summary

The vortex tube is a simple and efficient energy separation device without any moving parts. In this paper, a novel refrigeration cycle with a vortex tube to attain three different evaporation temperatures was presented. By means of the energy separation effect of the vortex tube, the novel cycle attains three different evaporation temperatures to meet different refrigeration requirements. Simulated calculation was carried out to analyze the effects of main parameters on cycle performance. The comparison between natural and non natural working fluids used in the novel cycle was presented in this paper, and the results showed that the two natural working
fluids R290 and R717 have better performance than other three working fluids R600a, R22 and R134a.
